Taking Stock

The ‘Taking Stock’ nugget has been designed to encourage you to pause and think about your career options so that decisions can be made in a more informed way.  Focus will be around being clear about priorities, motivational factors, the sorts of roles and the types of companies/organisations that you will want to apply to.

Delegates will consider the importance of proactively managing their careers and taking control in light of change and transition within the ODA.

There will be a number of exercises which will help with thinking about the most important factors that will influence the decisions you are making, for example:

  • Work / life balance
  • Being a manager
  • Using technical skills
  • Having independence
  • Having a good salary package
  • Being valued
  • Being part of a good team
  • Personal development

 

This ‘Taking Stock’ nugget will start off the process of being clearer about what’s important about the next role, which will assist with writing and developing a marketable CV once these goals are in mind.
